Inaccurate input on touch devices relating to the fingertip

چکیده
The fat-finger problem has emerged to a routine problem when interacting with especially small touch devices. Thereby, the target is smaller than the size of the finger contact area and interactions may result in incorrect input. Developers tried to respond to this and created new interfaces and tools. In this paper, I would like to present four approaches to address the problem. The stylus is a pen with a soft tip, which is used for interacting with touch surfaces. NanoTouch is a 6 centimeter large touch device, which can be controlled from its backside through a semi-transparent screen. Finally, the RidgePad has an integrated fingerprint scanner, which scans the user ID and fingerprints to save the special appearance of the fingerprints in certain finger positions. New technologies are on the rise where touch screen interactions without a touch screen are possible and the fat-finger problem will be a thing of the past.

Finger-Stylus for Non Touch-Enable Systems
Since computer was invented, people are using many devices to interact with computer. Initially there were keyboard, mouse etc. but with the advancement of technology, new ways are being discovered that are quite usual and natural to the humans like stylus, touch-enable systems. In the current age of technology, user is expected to touch the machine interface to give input. Hand gesture is such...
متن کامل3DTouch: A wearable 3D input device with an optical sensor and a 9-DOF inertial measurement unit
We present 3DTouch, a novel 3D wearable input device worn on the fingertip for 3D manipulation tasks. 3DTouch is designed to fill the missing gap of a 3D input device that is self-contained, mobile, and universally working across various 3D platforms. This paper presents a low-cost solution to designing and implementing such a device. Our approach relies on relative positioning technique using ...
متن کامل3DTouch: Towards a Wearable 3D Input Device for 3D Applications
Three-dimensional (3D) applications have come to every corner of life. We present 3DTouch, a novel 3D wearable input device worn on the fingertip for interacting with 3D applications. 3DTouch is self-contained, and designed to universally work on various 3D platforms. The device employs touch input for the benefits of passive haptic feedback, and movement stability. Moreover, with touch interac...
متن کاملCombining Direct and Indirect Touch Input for Interactive Desktop Workspaces using Gaze Input
Interactive workspaces combine horizontal and vertical touch surfaces into a single digital workspace. During an exploration of these systems, it was shown that direct interaction on the vertical surface is cumbersome and more inaccurate than on the horizontal one. To overcome these problems, indirect touch systems turn the horizontal touch surface into an input devices that allows manipulation...

In this white paper, we introduce a novel computer vision based attack that automatically discloses inputs on a touch enabled device. Our spying camera, including Google Glass, can take a video of the victim tapping on the touch screen and automatically recognize more than 90% of the tapped passcodes from three meters away, even if our naked eyes cannot see those passcodes or anything on the to...
